Melbourne Systema has a dynamic and refreshing approach to learning and self defense. Our classes provide you with the skill of being able to protect yourself, family and friends. Our approach educates and gives you knowledge that is practical in your everyday life, going beyond the principles of traditions and techniques in the martial arts.
We don't train for competition. There is no belt system. We don't rehearse choreographed patterns that are somehow able to save your neck in a sticky situation.
The drills we utilise are tried, tested and true. The technique is modern and is applicable to any scenario.
Cardio and fitness work is directly connected to the techniques we use and is an integrated aspect of the training. You will learn proper breathing techniques which work to slowly build up your stamina enabling you to deal with physical stress and gain the confidence you never knew you had.
The Instructor
Adam Vounoridis is the principal instructor at Melbourne Systema and has been certified by Vladimir Vasiliev while training directly with him in Canada. Adam has had over 10 years experience in various martial arts such as Aikido and Kung Fu but now teaches Systema exclusively. Adam is also a fully qualified Acupuncturist and Remedial Therapist giving him a deeper understanding of how the joints and muscles of the body work.
Who are the students?
The students at Melbourne Systema are a friendly bunch. There's computer programmers, office workers, salesmen, nurses...really just a bunch of regular people brought together to pursue similar individual goals.
The training environment is fun, positive and safe, ideal for people with no martial arts background and is an excellent complementary skill set for officers in law enforcement, security guards, military personnel as well as experienced fighters of any martial art background.
